2. Innocent Blood
Second Ingredient - The shedding of innocent blood
Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven
are an abomination unto him:
One of the sins of the Amorites, that God called an abomination; was offering their children up as sacrifices to their gods. This was another ingredient that filled their cup of iniquity.
God's ways are not our ways, He sees things a lot differently then people.
Genesis 4:9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother?
And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?
Land defiled by innocent blood
God said that the Amorites had polluted the land not only by their immoral ways but also the innocent blood of their children.
Leviticus 18:25 And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
Leviticus 18:27 (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)
God warns the Israelites not to adopt the ways of the Amorites
Leviticus 18:28 That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.
Warning again - please notice what God says about how the land is cleansed.
Numbers 35:33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are:
for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of
the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
Genesis 9:5-6 And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from
every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will
require a reckoning for the life of man.
Now we understand why Joshua was given the order to kill all the inhabitants of the Amorites and others.
People in Bible times understood the significance of innocent blood
Matthew 27:24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
A Sad Report - concerning the Israelites
Psalms 106:34-39 They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom
the LORD commanded them:
For these reasons God allowed Israel to be conquered and taken captive various times over the course of 4000 years. But.
God had made covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, God has always kept his end of the covenant. He would bring them back into their land and bless them. In fulfillment of God's word He brought them back into their land in 1948.
People wonder if the Bible is true. Just look at 4000 years of the history of Israel. Prophecy after prophecy was and is being fulfilled.
World wide, How much innocent blood is crying out to God? The whole
earth is polluted
