1. Opening Statements

Luke 4:1
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Led - to guide, direct, show the way, to bring along

In the Old Testament God led Israel by a visible cloud during the day and a pillar of fire by night. The cloud and fire were emblems of the Holy Spirit. It was actually the Holy Spirit that went before them to lead them.

Exodus 13:21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit was with them and guided them from without, in the New Testament He lives and abide in us and guides us from within.

John 14:16-18 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

 The Lord Jesus walked with His disciples, He taught them, reproved them and ministered to them personally. Jesus can not be physically with all of us today but by way of the Holy Spirit, He continues His work in us.

Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Being led by the Holy Spirit is a process, in which we become familiar with His promptings.

Please notice the following scriptures:

2Corinthians 13:14  The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.

Philippians2:1  If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies...

Communion and fellowship has to do with intimacy. If my only experience with God is once a week at church service, I will never become aware of His daily presence. I don't know about you but I need God every day, every moment; not just to give me something but I want to know Him as my best friend.

God's plan is that His Spirit would dwell in us, to enable us to live a Christian life. He would led us, teach us, reprove us, comfort us and empower us. We are His earthly temple, corporately and individually.
