The Necessity of Trials

1.  Patriarch Joseph 2.  King David  3. The Lord Jesus Christ

Sometimes we wonder why am I going through all these trials?

This is a deep subject, that has many facets to it but the primary reason is the following:

God is preparing the church to reign with Christ during His Millennial reign. The path to His throne is a path of trials.

Revelation 5:9-10 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

When Jesus Christ returns and sets up His millennial reign, the church will be a part of His government, that rules the whole earth. We will carry out His administration.

God our Father is using the trials of this life as a fire to prepare us.

Malachi 3:3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

Psalms 66:10 For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.

Let us look at the process by which gold is refined.

Gold is refined by fire whether it be a furnace or open flame. The goldsmith will watch over the process very carefully so as to not damage the precious metal. As the gold is heated, it
becomes molten. The dross is skimmed from the surface until all the impurities are burned off. The goldsmith knows it's ready when He can see his reflection in the molten gold. It is then poured into the shape that he chooses whether it be jewelry or gold bars.

A refiner's fire does not destroy it produces something of a better quality, according to the refiner's purpose.

The fire will purge out the dross.
The fire softens makes pliable, so it can be shaped.
The fire will (temper) reduce the brittleness in hardened steel.
The fire will separate the genuine from the counterfeit.
The fire  produces strength
The fire will glorify God
The fire bring promotion
The fire brings the reflection of the Lord Jesus.

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

2Corinthians 4:17-18 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

1Peter 1:6-7 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Revelation 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

To overcome there must be something to overcome. Most of the time we pray "Lord please remove this"  if He did, what would there be to overcome?  How will I reign with Christ if I cannot reign over my temper or emotions etc.?

Jesus Christ has given to us His victory but we must apply it in every circumstance.

Promises to those who overcome.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Revelation 2:7   He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Rev. 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Rev, 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Rev, 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

In the rest of this course let us look at God's work in  Joseph,  David and our Lord Jesus Christ.
